Now that the glitter has settled and Judy the Elf has hung up her Christmas cap until the next holiday season. Children’s Hope would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to every member in the community and surrounding cities that helped make a difference, one child at a time during the Christmas season. Children’s Hope was able to give presents to over 300 foster children in Butte County, Yuba-Sutter County, Colusa County, Placer-Sac County, and Nevada County.

The Children’s Hope Giving Trees are placed in businesses within the communities with tags that have the child’s name, age, and what their Christmas wish is. The Giving Trees this year were hosted by many local businesses such as Orchard Hospital, Bank of the West (Gridley), Dollar General (Gridley), Buckshot Grill (Biggs), Gold Pacific Bank (Live Oak), Live Oak School District Office (Live Oak), Estebans (Live Oak), Farm Credit (Yuba City), Sierra Central (Yuba City), Janyo Yogurt (Yuba City), Creative Kids Day Care (Yuba City), Headlines Spa and Beauty Salon (Yuba City), Dr. Iverson D.D.S. (Yuba City), North Valley G.I. (Yuba City), Cool Hand Lukes (Yuba City), PG&E (Wheatland), Evident Car Club (Beale AFB), and the Mom’s Club of Rocklin (Rocklin).

Colusa Casino and their employees provided gifts for 150 foster children. They have been partnering with Children’s Hope for almost 10 years since they learned that such a need existed. Orchard Hospital always places a Hope Giving Tree in their main facility and also in their Medical Specialty Clinic allowing employees and visitors to grab tags. Gridley Dollar General has hosted a toy drive for the second year with their toys going on sale after Thanksgiving allowing customers to contribute. Bags of stuffed animals were donated by Pet Smart to be used on the day of the holiday party for our foster children.

Once the toys have been collected Judy and her elves separate and bag the toys for each child and then host a special Christmas party for all the foster children and their families. This year Children’s Hope hosted two separate Christmas parties for foster children in their Gridley and Roseville Offices allowing more foster kids and families to attend. During the Christmas party the children make crafts, pick out toys and books for stocking stuffers, and eat some yummy snacks as they wait for a picture with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. It’s wonderful to see the smiles on their faces as they share a Christmas wish with Santa and Mrs. Claus. You really feel the Christmas spirit with everyone having a jolly and festive time.

It’s wonderful that our communities are filled with such good hearted and generous people that want to give back. The holidays are always tough on everyone but there’s the extra special angels that spread love to ensure that children in need also get to feel the Christmas magic.
