Gridley bills itself as “The small town that loves company.”
Our beloved city loves up to that creed all year, but it especially applies during the Gridley Invitational Basketball Tournament.
The 64th annual GIBT was this last weekend, and it was another showcase not just for the high-level high school basketball it’s become known for, but for the hospitality Gridley is also known for.
Everyone I talked to over the three days of the GIBT raved about Gridley and how they were received by our town and it’s residents.
It’s something I’ve come across often in my three years here chronicling prep sports.
It was another great year on the basketball court, and the Gridley boys again got an up close and personal look at what they want to be on the court.
Coach Chay Dake told me his team got a bit of a reality check after starting the season 5-0.
The Bulldogs played hard in all three of their GIBT games and the experience of playing against such elite competition will help them later this season.
Congratulations on another great GIBT, Gridley! Let’s do it again next year!
