Since the initial call went out for donations to help those affected by Hurricane Harvey on August 28, followed quickly by a call to aid those displaced by the Ponderosa Fire just 2 days later, the North Valley community rapidly came together to generously give more than $6,000 to be used for relief efforts.

NVCF will grant all $3,900 raised for Hurricane Harvey relief to the Greater Houston Community Foundation, which is actively involved in assisting relief efforts in the affected region.

The Ponderosa Fire has burned more than 4,000 acres and destroyed

32 homes. To help with the relief effort, NVCF's North Valley Emergency Response Grant-Making Committee has voted to grant $1,500 to the North Valley Animal Disaster Group to help with their ongoing efforts, $500 to the Church of the Nazarene, which provided shelter for evacuees, and $200 to Butte 2-1-1, which often serves as first point of contact for those needing assistance in emergency situations.
