The Butte County Board of Supervisors will appoint Shari McCracken Interim Chief Administrative Officer effective November 1, 2017.

Recruitment for a new CAO began several months ago when current CAO, Paul Hahn, announced he would retire at the end of October after more than seven years serving Butte County at the helm. The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to temporarily put the recruitment on hold and appoint McCracken Interim Chief Administrative Officer.

“I am confident with Shari's depth of knowledge, the County will be headed in the right direction,” says Bill Connelly, Chair of the Board of Supervisors. “The County is in solid financial shape, but we are facing cost shifts from state to local government in the near future. Shari brings with her years of Butte County fiscal experience to work through these challenging monetary issues. The full Board supports her, and I know she is going to be a tremendous leader,” says Connelly.

McCracken is no stranger to Butte County and has served as Deputy Chief Administrative Officer since 2005. She has managed numerous countywide projects and worked closely with each department during her tenure with Butte County. McCracken is dedicated to public service and worked with numerous agencies and organizations over the last 34 years. Prior to coming to Butte County, she worked in the Chief Administrator’s Office in Sonoma
