As the centennial of the 1914-17 Lassen Peak eruptions approached, the Association for Northern California Historical Research, and author Alan Wayne Willendrup, decided to reprint Willendrup’s book “The Lassen Peak Eruptions & Their Lingering Legacy”. Originally published by ANCHR in 1984, the book is unique in that it focuses on the stories of the people who lived in close proximity to the volcanic eruption – the ranchers, rangers and others who were impacted by the eruptions. The reprint contains more photos, giving more pictorial evidence of how lives were changed.
Alan Willendrup will be discussing his book at the Gridley Branch Library 2:00 pm Saturday, August 19. The program is presented by the Gridley Museum and the Gridley Branch Library. For further information, please call the library, 846-3323. The library is located at 299 Spruce St. Hours: Tuesday & Wednesday 12-6, Thursday and Friday 10-5, Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 1-5.
