Many accolades and congratulations are in order for Biggs Community Action Volunteers and Biggs Hometown Events for another fantastic Fourth of July celebration.
The day started with a Pancake Breakfast at the Community Building followed by a great parade that brought many people out to watch and enjoy.
Actually being in the parade this year, instead of behind a camera, it gave great opportunity to enjoy the hundreds of darling children with big smiles on their faces, some waving American flags and many in their darling red, white and blue outfits.
Grand marshals Kari Wheeler, Janet Smith and Mary Mattson were deservedly chauffeured on a patriotic float.
As the Biggs Wolverines float, carrying a golf cart in honor of the late Mel McLaughlin, made it through the parade route, announcers gave tribute to Mel and the huge contributions he made not only to the schools but the community and invited golfers to join them for the July 10 Golf Tournament in his honor benefitting Biggs Boosters.
The Colonia Hotel beamed with patriotism as people gathered there to watch the parade, something that has occurred each and every year, but for many years the hotel needed a lot of work and didn't catch the eye the way it does now as the future looks bright thanks to the Shadd family.
Buckshot Grill was hopping as the crowds dispersed and people were ready to eat before going on to more fun.
The high school football field was packed with people listening to the music of the Long Time Band, kids playing on water slides, and of course just having a good time relaxing before the big show.
This 15th Annual All American Hometown Celebration is a great event and certainly worth staying home for.
Tax deductible donations can be sent to PO Box 577, Biggs or dropped off at City hall. This event succeeds strictly with donations and it is certainly not too early to start for next year's event.
What would a fireworks show be without Edson Smith and his fantastic crew? The magnitude of this show is hard to beat each year as people go away completely thrilled but they always manage to impress even more. Gino Patane needs a special shout out for donating the water and water truck for the fireworks show.
There is no better way to cap off a wonderful day in Biggs than to sit and enjoy this spectacular display for a true hometown celebration.
