Gridley and Biggs residents are joining forces to pay tribute to a friend who supported his communities including the Modoc County area.
Bob Hetherwick died May 3, 2009, and since that time, his friends have decided they would like to honor him for all his contributions.
Meetings are being held weekly by the committee and last week a friend of Bob's, Barry Pierce, came all the way from Reno to help plan and offer his help.
Hetherwick was very actively involved in Gridley and Biggs FFA, the Biggs Unified School District, Gridley Rotary Club, Gridley Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and the Gridley Chamber of Commerce, serving as President. Bob was always there to support youth organizations, whether it be in Modoc, Colusa or Butte County.
Raised in Alturas, Bob made many friends there who remain tried and true and are willing to help out to make sure that the dinner is a success in Bob's honor.
Friends are planning a benefit Prime Rib Dinner at the Moose Lodge on Saturday, January 23, 2010.
Dinner tickets are $35 each, (children five and under free) and besides purchasing raffle tickets, you can also help by participating in the silent and live auctions and/or help by donating items to the auctions. Contact Bob King at 846-4701 or Joe Busch at 693-0405, to purchase tickets, contribute auction items or make monetary donations.
A new 2008 Kawasaki TERYX 750 4x4 will be raffled off with tickets at $100 each and only 300 will be sold. Winner need not be present to win. The drawing will be held the night of the dinner, with the winner paying sales tax, license fees and optional extended warranty.
Just one of the very special items available on the silent auction will be a weeks accommodations in Costa Rica, compliments of Doug and Linda Wilson of Gridley. A video of the area will be shown the night of the dinner.
No host cocktails will begin at 5 p.m., with the dinner beginning at 6 p.m. Take-out dinners will be available.
The prime rib will be barbecued by the team of Joe Garcia, Mike Kossow, Jake Stowe, Dan Burleson and Steve Dowd which means the meal will be fantastic.
The event is being called an appreciation dinner, because Bob's friends appreciate all that he did for the community, besides being such a terrific friend.
Dinner tickets are available at Stohlman's 76, The Wishing Corner, The Gridley Herald, Bank of the West, ACE Hardware and Gold Country Bank.
Tickets for the 2008 TeRyx 750 4x4 are available for $100 at Stohlman's 76, State Farm Insurance, Gold Country Bank and ACE Hardware.
