Over 100 eighth grade girls and their parents from throughout Butte County spent Saturday, January 21 on the Butte College campus getting a taste of college life and hearing about some of the options for interesting careers open to them in the future.
The occasion was the fourth annual Career Trek program put on by the Oroville, Chico and Gridley branches of the American Association of University Women in conjunction with Butte College. Some of the careers included forensic anthropologist, laboratory technician, nurse, physical therapist, accountant, pharmacist, veterinarian, family law attorney, crime prevention, criminalist and police work. After each girl took part in three morning hands-on workshops and a delicious lunch served in the college cafeteria they were led by Butte College athletes on a tour of the campus and demonstrations by Butte College instructors in some of the many labs on campus.
