WAREHOUSES SAVED IN HIGH WINDS--High winds did not stop local firefighters from containing a three alarm fire Wednesday at 6:52 p.m., when the former Hinaman Dryer office caught fire at Virginia and Laurel Streets. Firefighters kept the potentially huge fire to the one office with the help of Butte County, Gridley, Yuba City, Oroville, Biggs and Sutter Co. engines responding.

There were two fires in Gridley on Wednesday, one at the former Hinaman Dryer office and another at a modular structure that was one of several buildings that was to be the site of a charter school years ago.
