A journey through grief, and how a special child learns to cope.
Walking into this movie I expected some tears to fall. And fall they did. But in a good way. The events of 9/11 affected us all. Some more significantly than others. “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” has less to do with the actual events of that day and more to do with a young Autistic boy learning to deal with the death of his father.
With an all star cast of Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock, Johns Goodman and Max von Sydow, it's no wonder the movie is so amazing. But the real surprise is the outstanding premier performance by Thomas Horn, who plays Oskar. This young man practically carries the film on his shoulders alone, and he carries it very well.
You will be moved.
Rated PG-13 for emotional thematic material, some disturbing images, and language, I give “Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close” 5 out of 5 stars.
