Eugene Copeland died from cancer on April 16th at the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital at the age of 90. He was born May 11th, 1926 to Doyle and Lorena Copeland with his twin sister Eugenia in Oxnard, California. He is survived by his wife Jeanie Mason Copeland of 66 years April 8th of this year and 3 children, Edward Copeland and wife Debbie, Vicki Gallo and husband Jim, and vTimothy Copeland and friend Sarah and his twin sister Eugenia Draper. He also was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He entered the Navy at the age of 17 during WWII. From October 13,1943 to April 8th 1946. He was a submarine sailor and was so proud to have served his country. His last Submarine was the U.S.S. Guavina 362. He went to Washington, D.C. on the Honor Flight just 3 years ago.

He was employed by the Navy at China Lake for 27 years as a refrigeration mechanic.

He loved to waterski in his younger days but turned to bowling when he could no longer ski. He loved growing vegetables in his garden and volunteering his time fixing the A/C’s at Immanuel Baptist Church until he was no longer able to do it.

He also loved his family, grandchildren and great-grands, and friends and could entertain them with his numerous stories. He leaves two protective Border Collies, Dublin and Abbey.

The funeral service will be at Immanuel Baptist church building at 201 Graaf St on April 24th at 12:00pm. Viewing at 11:00am. He will be buried at Desert Memorial Cemetery immediately following the service. A reception will follow at 1201 China Lake Blvd for friends and family.
