Dan Boeger presented the Gridley Rotary Club program last week with the latest drill, a Honey Badger KS-1000, being sent to Africa for water drilling. Boeger introduced five men who have made this their life's work, having donated 450 drills so far so that the people of Africa can have safe drinking water. Ron Reed started drilling wells in 2006 and told Rotarians that on a good day a drill can dig a well in a day.Gridley and Oroville Rotary Clubs contributed $15,000 for this project with Rotary International making it a total of $90,000.The children of Africa miss school because they walk five miles in the morning and another five miles in the afternoon to fill five gallon water buckets for their families, starting at five-years-of-age.
