National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is announcing a new free weekly support group for adults living with mental illness. NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group is a peer-led support group whose facilitators are NAMI trained and offers participants insight as they hear from others about their challenges and successes.

NAMI’s Support Groups are unique because they follow a structured model to ensure that all participants have an opportunity to be heard and to get what they need. The group meets on a weekly basis on Thursdays from 5 - 6:30 at Crossroads Community Church in the HeBrews Cafe at 235 N. China Lake Blvd. and is free.

Other weekly Support Groups offered by NAMI are the Family Support Group held every Monday from 5-6:30 at the Ridgecrest Regional Hospital David Mechtenberg Conference room and the Parent Support Group (parents of children with a mental illness) offered each Tuesday evening from 5-6:30 p.m. at Gateway School in the library. For more information please contact Janet Mulvihill at 760-384-8672.

The National Alliance On Mental Illness is a nationwide grassroots advocacy group, representing families and people affected by mental disorders in the United States. We focus on support and education for the individual with the mental illness and their family, friends, and caretakers. Advocating for better laws, programs, and housing to serve this population is also an important part of NAMI services.
