The League of Women Voters of Butte County will be holding its 44th Annual Benefit Wine Tasting Event on Sunday, April 23rd from 4-7pm at the Manzanita Place in Chico.

The local League is now 50 years old and this is its only fundraiser. The League counts on this event to support its work throughout the county. In the past year

*The League held 21 candidate forums for water districts, county supervisors, school boards, city and town councils, state representative, United States Representative and one recall election.

*For the first time, most of the candidate forums were videotaped and later made available on the League website.

*13 presentations on the Pros and Cons of ballot measures were given to community groups in Gridley, Oroville and Chico.

*League volunteers delivered over 16,000 voter registration forms to 54 locations in the county.

*The League hosted 4 panel discussions on the hot topics of Train Safety in Butte County, a National Healthcare Update, the Electoral College and Civility in Politics.

The Wine Tasting event will have gourmet appetizers and 100 local, regional and international wines. For the beer lovers – there will be craft beer samplings! Attendees must be 21.
