On April 12, 2017, at approximately 3:54 p.m., Butte County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call from the California Highway Patrol, requesting a cover officer with emergency response.

Deputies responded and learned a CHP officer found a female being dragged by the hair in the front yard of a residence in the area of 18th Street and Biggs Avenue in Oroville.  A CHP officer secured the victim and medical was called to respond.

Victim told Deputies that she had been beaten with a knife, held captive, and had her life threatened.  Victim was able to climb out of a window to escape but her boyfriend, 42-year-old, Shawn Cahill, chased her.  He was in the process of trying to drag her back to the house when a CHP officer was driving by.  Cahill fled the scene and the victim was rescued by the CHP officer.  Victim had minor facial injuries.

The residence and the surrounding area were searched for Cahill but the search yielded negative results.

A stolen truck was located at the residence.  CHP has taken over the investigation of the stolen vehicle.

Cahill is wanted for four felonies; Domestic Violence, False Imprisonment, Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Criminal Threats.
