The Gridley High School girls basketball team is picking up in 2017 right where it left off in 2016.

Tuesday night at Farmer’s Hall, the Bulldogs bested area rival Live Oak, 60-40.

The win improved Gridley’s record to 12-3 on the 2016-17 season.

Gridley led 30-21 at halftime, but Live Oak (7-3) opened the second half with a 7-3 run to close to within five at 33-28.

Gridley weathered the Lion spurt, however, and outscored Live Oak 15-3 over the remainder of the third stanza to pull away.

Maddyson Tull led Gridley with 14 points.
