In 2014, the California legislature passed the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), which was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown. This legislation triggers a more intense and hands on approach to groundwater management at the local level and requires cooperation and participation by all water users. This legislation has the potential to affect everyone who uses water, the local economy, as well as the environment. Come get informed at one of the three times and locations shown above.
Each meeting will be facilitated by Michael Harty of Kearns and West. The department has been working with Michael over the past year to meet with various smaller groups to complete an initial assessment of their concerns and ideas about how to govern and implement this new law.
Come join in any or all of these very important public meetings regarding our water resources. For additional information, please contact Vickie Newlin (530) 538-2179 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
