At the sweet age of seven, at Shriner’s Hospital, Lupita passed away as the result of an incident on Larkin Road, near Rio Bonito in Gridley, CA. Lupita will be remembered as a very happy, kind, and loving little girl. She always had a positive attitude and constantly repeated to her family that “Every day would be the best day ever”! She loved going to school, because she loved to read. She loved to spend time with her family, especially with her little brother Jose, whom she called “Chepe”. Lupita and Chepe loved playing together. She enjoyed playing Nintendo, going to the park, playing dress up, wearing make-up and modeling for “photo shoots”. She loved to sing, dance, and eat cotton candy flavored ice cream!
Lupita is survived by her parents, Blanca Mayorga and David Cortes (EL GRANDE), three sisters: (Odalis) Clarissa Cortes, age 20, (Blanca) Valeria Cortes, age 11, (Kimberly) Dariela Cortes, age 2, two brothers: (David) Rey Cortes, age 17 and (Jose) Chepe Cortes, age 6., her Grandpa (Gregorio) Davison Cortes, many aunts, uncles, and LOTS of cousins!
As a result of this incident her little brother, Chepe, is still in critical condition along with little sister, Kimberly. They both continue to be hospitalized at Shriner’s Hospital in Sacramento, CA.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gridley, located at 1560 Hazel Street, beginning with a rosary at 7 p.m. and a viewing and overnight vigil.
