On 12/19/13, at about 0645 hours, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call from a reporting party at the Tuscan Ridge Golf Course on Skyway reporting they had just been burglarized and the suspect was leaving westbound on the Skyway on a motorcycle towards Chico. Detective R. Gsell arrived in the area of Bruce Rd and Skyway where he located a motorcycle matching the description of the suspect from the burglary. Detective Gsell initiated a traffic stop on the motorcycle and the driver accelerated away failing to yield to Detective Gsell. Detective Gsell pursued the motorcycle attempting to stop the fleeing motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was driving erratically through Chico, passing in double yellow lines, crossing into oncoming traffic and failing to stop at controlled intersections. When the driver of the motorcycle came to the Bidwell Park entrance, off of Centennial Ave, he was able to avoid the locked gate controlling the entrance and entered the park. A perimeter was set up in the area and a search of the location was started. During the search, Butte County Sheriff’s Office personnel were alerted by citizens that they had seen the motorcycle and the driver had tried to hide the motorcycle in the park. The citizens continued to say they saw the suspect flee the area on foot. Allied agencies responded to the area to assist in the search for the driver/suspect. While on perimeter patrol, Deputy C. Comer located male subject matching the description of the suspect. The male, identified as George Ellis III, 42 years old, of Chico was arrested on outstanding warrants for Burglary and Possession of Stolen Property. During the investigation, Detective Gsell was able to confirm that Ellis was the suspect from the burglary at Tuscan Ridge Golf Course and the person that had fled from him on the motorcycle. Based on the information, Ellis was also charged with Burglary and Possession of Stolen Property, arrested and transported to the Butte County Jail where he was later booked.
