    • email print
  • With the current weather forecast of high winds and unseasonable low humidity’s this Thursday and Friday, CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire has increased their personnel staffing on engines and staffed the Chico Air Attack Base and Dozer through Saturday. In addition to this increased staffing, Butte County Air Quality District will designate Thursday, Friday and Saturday as “No Burn Days at all elevations”. In addition to complying with the no-burn regulations, it is important that any burn piles that may have been active in the past few days be checked for hot embers and ashes from fire places and wood stoves are out cold before dumping. “The high, erratic winds and predicted low humidity’s can cause even old piles to reignite and quickly spread” stated Unit Chief Greg McFadden. Strong North to Northeast Winds are expected with 20 to 30 MPH winds with gusts up to 50 MPH. These winds have the potential to down trees and tree limbs. Residents are urged to use caution while driving.
