A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at 10 a.m., at the Gridley-Biggs Cemetery for Arvil V. Knox, 95, of Gridley. Arvil passed away on November 19, 2013 in Yuba City, CA. He was born November 28, 1917 in McAlester, OK to Albert and Stella Knox. Arvil was a longtime resident of Gridley, having owned and operated Knox Auto Repair in Gridley for many years. He enjoyed flying and was a private pilot since the 40's. He served as a Deacon for 60 years at the First Baptist Church. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Lodge and served as the youngest Master in the McAlester, OK Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Dovie Knox, two brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson Eric Donnard. He is survived by one son Sonny and wife Shirley Knox of Gridley, CA., one brother Albert Knox, Jr., of Redding, CA; give grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests donations to the First Baptist Church in Gridley. Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley Block Funeral Chapel.
