Sutter North Hospice is hosting a Grieving through the Holidays series for adults beginning Nov. 19 - Jan. 9, 2014. This support group is open to the public and there is no charge to attend. In addition, Sutter North Hospice offers a Children’s Bereavement Group on a weekly basis free-of-charge that is held year around for children 5-18 years old. The upcoming holiday season can be a challenging and difficult time for families. Grief can be a life-altering experience and both adults and children can be vulnerable to the stress and social expectations that the holidays bring. “As we approach this holiday season, there is an increase in sadness, depression and grief. Every person grieves differently in their own personal way, with a majority of grief happening in private,” said Tim Guerrero, adult bereavement program coordinator for Sutter North Hospice. Adult Grieving Through the Holiday Series meetings touch on topics such as: How to Best Support Those in Mourning, Coping with Grief During the Holidays, and Tips for Handling the Holidays.
