After taking care of area families over the past 36 years, it is now time for others to pay their respects toward our friend Lynn Moyle and be grateful for the wonderful friendship we shared. The many who knew him professionally and personally valued his friendship and in particular, were grateful for his kind words and understanding when it would seem things could not be worse. Moyle took families under his wing and had a way of making things seem much easier to face when making funeral arrangements for family members. Gridley was lucky enough to have Moyle here taking care of the needs of thousands of families, touching many people's lives. He was there when people needed a friendly smile the most, not to mention the compassion he shared not only at the time of the loss of a loved one but in the days following also. He went into business for himself because he wanted to be able to do things his way and treat people the way they should be treated. Moyle bought Block Funeral Home, located at the corner of Ohio and Sycamore from Bill Manes. Bob Sherer bought Gridley Chapel from Eleanor Macey where Gridley-Block now stands and Moyle bought Sherer out in 1980 after being in partnership with him. Block Funeral's location was shut down and Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel was formed. Block Funeral Home had served the families in this area since 1949. Moyle retired for the last time in January 2013. Current Gridley- Block Funeral Chapel Owner Eric Ramsey stated at the time of Moyle's retirement, “Lynn is a very unique Funeral Director in that he always gave his best to the families who needed his help with the utmost care, respect, and his compassion; even in the times he was experiencing his own challenges in life, he put serving a family first. Lynn served the families of Gridley, Biggs and Live Oak communities and in his heart he was truly dedicated to faithfully serving each family that entrusted him to care for their family.” Memorial Services are set for Friday, October 25, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 400 Spruce Street at 2 p.m.
