The Biggs/Gridley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary met recently in the Conference Room at the Medial Specialty Center for their annual Fall Luncheon. President Pat Scheyer introduced six new members of the Auxiliary: Tammie Blair, Diane Benson, Joyce Dowell, Jeanie Dorso, Wilma Jenkins and Stephanie Cunha. The Auxiliary now has 59 members but could use more. If community members find themselves able to participate a minimum of two hours a month helping in the gift shop or calling with the Telecare program they should contact Pat Scheyer (846- 2523). Service pins were presented to Martha Wright (25 years) and Nadine Miller, Alice Kauffman and Bernie Kossow (15 years). The group funds two $2000 scholarships each year for those who intend working in the medical field and they also make an annual gift to support the hospital. Jack Storne, vice-president of the Hospital Foundation, accepted a $5000 gift to the Foundation to be used toward equipment for the new emergency wing. Wade Sturgeon, CEO of the local hospital, spoke to the group about ongoing plans for the expansion of the hospital. Sturgeon was hired as interim CFO/CEO in February 2011 and was hired as fulltime CEO in April of 2012. The dietary department of the hospital served a delicious luncheon following the program.
