  • Two Gridley men shot by Gridley man

  • On September 27, 2013 at approximately 10:23 p.m. the Butte County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call from an adult male, who stated he was involved in an altercation and shot someone in self defense. During this same time period, Gridley Police transferred a separate 9-1-1 call to the Sheriff’s Office. The caller told dispatchers he and another male subject had both been shot on Alexander Avenue near East Evans Reimer Road, Gridley.    Upon arrival, Deputies located Eric and Chase Waller in the 800 block of Alexander, who had been shot. They were treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital. At this time, it is unknown the extent of their injuries.   The suspect, Garrett Rudd, age 24, was located near the scene on River Avenue and was detained without incident. The firearm that was used in the shooting was recovered along with several magazines and ammunition from Rudd’s vehicle. After a preliminary investigation, Rudd was arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $200,000.     This case is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Butte County Sheriff’s Office at 538-7321.
