2013 marks the 60th Annual Live Oak festival. This year's theme is "Live Oak Sparkles," honoring the Festival's Diamond Jubilee. The Live Oak Festival is a celebration of the role agriculture plays in our community. No one imagined 165 years ago that Live Oak's riches would come from the earth in the form of crops harvested instead of gold. Our community serves as an anchor for the diverse agricultural products grown in California. The Festival begins with a parade in Live Oak's Historic Commercial District. The parade, which is free to enter, begins at 10 a.m., and runs down Broadway Street. Opening ceremonies follow in Live Oak Memorial Park between O and P Streets adjacent to the Live Oak Community Center. The festival grounds open at 11 a.m., and close at 9 p.m. Admission and parking are free. All your favorite craft and toy vendors will be there and of course the delicious food vendors from sno cones to tacos. Everyone is invited to meet Miss Live Oak Festival, Parrkerlynn Stevenson Barnes, and enjoy tons of other good old fashioned family fun. Car enthusiasts should not miss participating in this parade and classic Don Bright Memorial Car Show . This year there will also be a bicycle rodeo where youth are encouraged to bring their bicycles for safety inspections and free helmets. “Spread the Light Puppet Ministries,” from The Father's House Church will be returning to the stage to perform their famous black light puppet show, along with other local and professional talent that is sure to please. Saturday, September 21, 2013, there is something for everyone at the Live Oak Festival. Great Family Fun! We hope to see you there!
