Leroy Dean, age 74, passed away September 11, 2013. There will be a graveside service Friday, September 20, 2013, at 1 p.m., at the Chico Cemetery on Mangrove Avenue, Chico. Pastor Andrew Burchett of the Neighborhood Church will be officiating. The service will include Military Honors provided by the local VFW. Leroy was born, in Redmond, Oregon, April, 21, 1939. Graduated from Redmond High School, Completed his BA at Shasta College, and Graduated from Chico State with a Teaching Credential. Then enlisted into the US Army, spending two years of active duty. Married Naoma Shaw, September 28, 1963. Worked as Teacher/Principal/Superintendent at Lake Elementary School, Orland, California, for 32 years. He received many awards; Administrator of the year, Educator Hall of Fame, and a Playground at Lake was dedicated to Leroy in 2012, just to name a few. Leroy had an impact on so many lives throughout his years at the School. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and always loved being around his family and friends. Besides his wife, Naoma, he is survived by his Mother, Ruth Dean, Redmond, Oregon. Son, Kevin, (Jody) Crossroads, Texas. Daughter, Radell Sharrock, (Mark) Biggs, California. Grandchildren, Roy and Everett Dean, Maedean and Laine Sharrock, Andrew (Jessie) and Adam Sharrock. Sister, Betty Graves, Boise, Idaho, and three great-grand-daughters. Leroy was preceded in death by his Father, Leroy Dean; Brothers, Gilbert and Delbert.
