  • Lady Bulldogs ready for 2013

  • The Lady Bulldogs volleyball team are off to great start for the 2013 season. So far, Gridley has posted a 6-1 record, with their only loss coming earlier this week to River Valley. The girls have put up a victory against Hamilton, Marysville, and two victories against both Corning and Pierce.
    Over the weekend, the Lady Bulldogs took first place at the Hamilton City volleyball tournament after going 4-0. In the first game against Pierce, Gridley won 2-1 after matches of 17-25, 25-20, 15-13. The girls then played Corning, winning both matches 25-18, 25-14. In a second game against Pierce, the girls posted wins of 25-9 and 25-18 to send them into the championship game against Corning once again. In that game, the Lady Bulldogs came out victories after two, with wins of 25-7 and 25-22.
    Earlier this week, at River Valley, the Lady Bulldogs fell 3-1 after matches of 25-17, 22-25, 25-20, 25-18. Gridley’s junior outside hitter Haylee Coats led the Bulldogs with 12 kills, while Megan Anthony and Sandra Dreesman had nine kills each. Anthony also had 20 digs and three blocks. Setter Vanessa Ramirez had 20 assists and Jamie Burr had 13 digs against the Falcons.
