Sutter North’s Home Health Department is participating in a worldwide event to raise awareness on brain injury and educate the world about this debilitating epidemic by being part of a global picnic on September 21, 2013.
Brain injury associations, charities, non-profits and related organizations from across the world are being encouraged to take part in the Brain Injury Global Picnic, which hopes to break the current world record of most picnics held in a 24-hour period. The record to beat is 22,232 picnickers! “The idea is a very simple one. Everyone in the world, whether they are associated with brain injury, disability or disease in any way or not, can support the global need for education about brain injury, and indeed how we approach all disabilities,” said Stacy Hall, Sutter North Speech Pathologist and Brain Injury Support Group Facilitator.
Sutter’s Home Health Department will hold its picnic on September 21, 2013 at Yuba City’s Farmers Market located at 461 Plumas Blvd., starting at 9 a.m. Participants are invited to bring their own picnic or enjoy fresh local food provided by Sutter North Home Health with donations being accepted. Donations will benefit Sutter’s Brain Injury Awareness outreach in the Yuba-Sutter community. For more information please contact Tiffany Geyer, Home Health Department’s community liaison at 530-749-3665.
Sutter’s Home Health Department supports brain injury patients and their family members in other ways too. Home Health hosts a monthly Brain Injury Support Group. Meetings are held the fourth Monday of every month from 3-5 p.m. at 400 Plumas Blvd., Suite 115. There is no cost to attend this support group and it is open to all those affected by brain injuries and their support partner. Meetings are led by speech pathologist Stacy Hall and offer emotional support as well as breakout sessions and access to resources. For more information about the support group, please contact Stacy Hall, Sutter North Speech Pathologist and Brain Injury Support Group Facilitator, at 530-749-3450.
