  • Firefighters from CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire Department responded to a 9-1-1 call about a vehicle submerged in a Butte County canal last week. Rescuers found the submerged vehicle upside down in the water. CAL FIRE officials said the human occupants were able to escape. However, a small terrier mix named "Nuggie" was still inside the sunken vehicle. According to officials, Joshpae White (pictured holding “Nuggie”) jumped into the canal to rescue the small dog. White works with CAL FIRE - Butte County at the Gridley office. “Nuggie” has since been reunited with his human family.
