  • On Friday June 28, 2013 the students from the California State University, Chico Upward Bound Projects will be cleaning up Bidwell Park. More than 230 participants from the program will be beautifying the park by picking up trash, raking leaves and pulling weeds. Park Division staff organizes all of the projects for the students. Participants will be at the park from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Upward Bound Projects at Chico State has been active for 48 years. All participants are motivated high school students from low-income backgrounds and/or are the first generation in their immediate family to go to college. The program provides several opportunities to help students graduate high school and continue their education at a four-year university. Upward Bound provides students with tutoring year-round to make sure this happens. The students are currently residing and taking classes on the Chico State campus as part of a six week summer program.
