A Federal grant has made it possible for the City of Gridley to install surveillance cameras in city parks.
Multiple cameras are now installed in public parks to deter graffiti and vandalism according to Gridley-Biggs Police Chief Gary Keeler.
“The cameras will provide assistance for other criminal acts being committed but will not record audio. The cameras will be used strictly for crime suppression,” Chief Keeler stated.
The Chief did not provide other information for security reasons but did state that local City money was not used for the purchase of the cameras as they are part of a Federal grant.
Gridley's Water Park was vandalized two weeks ago, causing it to be shut down on the hottest day of the year. Camera surveillance should help in this regard.
