  • On June 6, 2013 the Butte County Sheriff’s Office along with the United States Forest Service raided a large marijuana garden being grown on the Plumas National Forest in the Mountain House area of Butte County.

  • On June 6, 2013 the Butte County Sheriff’s Office along with the United States Forest Service raided a large marijuana garden being grown on the Plumas National Forest in the Mountain House area of Butte County. During the raid Deputies and Officers encountered a Hispanic male adult, later identified as Antonio Gomez-Cruz, age 41 of Soltana California, in the kitchen area of the marijuana garden. After a short foot pursuit, Gomez-Cruz was apprehended and taken into custody. Over the course of two days, June 6-7, 2013, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Unit, with the assistance of the United States Forest Service, Butte County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team, Butte County Sheriff’s Office EOD Unit, Chico Police Department SWAT Team, Yuba County Sheriff’s Office Swat Team, and the Butte Interagency Narcotics Taskforce eradicated 16,272 growing marijuana plants. Antonio Gomez-Cruz was booked into the Butte County Jail for felony charges of 11358 H&S; Marijuana Cultivation, 11359 H&S; Possession of marijuana for sale, 148 PC; Resisting arrest, and an Immigration Hold. Gomez-Cruz’ bail was set at $103,000.
