Johnnie James “Buck” Rogers of Lookout, California, passed away at his home on May 23, 2013. Buck was born to Jim and Roselyn Rogers on August 31, 1953 in Turlock, California. He grew up in Gridley where he excelled at football and baseball and graduated from Gridley High School in 1971. Following high school, Buck held jobs hauling hay and trapping until he was able to fulfill his dream of being a full time farmer. In 2003, Buck and his family moved to Lookout, California, where they own a successful hay operation. From the time he was a little boy, Buck’s passion was deer hunting. He started by accompanying his dad and then when he was old enough, started hunting on his own. Anyone who knew Buck knows that he was not available during deer season. He hunted numerous Western states and Mexico each year and harvested many trophy bucks. Buck is survived by his wife of 32 years Patty Rogers; sons James Rogers (Rachael Oney) and Luke Rogers (Stacey Taylor); two granddaughters Mia Rogers and Bridget Oney; parents Jim and Roselyn Rogers; brother Matt Rogers (Mimi), numerous nieces and nephews and countless friends. A graveside service will be held May 31, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lookout Cemetery, Lookout, California. A celebration of life will be held June 21, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Gridley Moose Lodge, Gridley, California.
