  • Emily Tsuchida, a Nurse Practitioner in HIV care from Sacramento and President of the Board of NCAC (Nor Cal Aids Cycle) joined the Nor Cal Aids Ride last week as they stayed at the Butte County Fairgrounds the first night. Many of the 125 riders were on this ride for the seventh year. Some proceeds of the ride go to C.A.R.E.S., needle exchange HIV prevention tools, dental clinics and outreach and testing as well as food banks, including one in Redding for people with HIV that otherwise would have been closed. Each person must raise $$1,500 to compete as well as the 75 crew members who must raise $250 each. The top fund raiser for 2013 was a man who is HIV positive and raised $11,000 on his own. Ages 13-24 are infected with HIV the most along with African American women.
