The Gridley Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 51st Annual Red Suspenders Day tomorrow, May 18, 2013 starting with the Little League Pancake Breakfast from 7 a.m., to 10 a.m., in Daddow Park.
Bed and tire races begin around 9:30 a.m., on Virginia between Sycamore and Hazel Streets. This is an especially exciting time as the beds and tire careen from one end of the block to the other.
The parade will begin at 11 a.m., and following the parade, a vast assortment of food and entertainment will continue throughout the afternoon.
If it's a classic car you are looking for, meander down Kentucky Street and see the beautiful cars displayed. There will even be a chance to win an original 1967 Buick Riviera with tickets just $20 to raise money for the Dennis Platter family. Tickets are also available at Bloom on Saturday. The winner will be chosen June 1, 2013.
All kinds of wonderful foods will be available at Daddow Park whether it be the Lions Club bratwurst, the Rotary Club's Tri-Tip fundraiser for Melissa Hetherwick's Medical Fund, Mexican food or Philly Cheese Steak Sandwiches.
Krispy Krème Donuts will be available for those looking for something really sweet and shaved ice and milkshakes for those looking for something cold to drink.
Jax Kettle Korn will be in Daddow Park along with cotton candy and sno-cones.
Over in Rotary Park, with all the many activities for children such as a bounce house, water slide, pony rides and Zippy Pets, you can even go to the dunk booth and dunk your favorite Gridley-Biggs Police Officer while having a root beer float or Round Table Pizza as a fund raiser for Gridley High School.
There will be plenty of craft booths throughout the two parks and plenty to see and do.
Brad Evans and The Mutual Admiration Society will be playing blues in the gazebo following the parade in Daddow Park while the Watermelon Eating Contest goes on also.
The Recreation Department's Pinewood Derby will start at 1 p.m., on Virginia Street and also at 1 p.m., the Firemen's Games will be in Rotary Park on Washington Street.
The extrication by the Fire Department will begin at 2 p.m., at Rotary Park on Washington Street with Big Wheel races for the little ones on Virginia Street at 2:30 p.m.
