A Celebration of Life will be held on May 4, 2013, 11 a.m. at the Live Oak Church of the Brethren for Cecil Ray Catledge of Gridley. He passed away April 14, 2013 in Gridley.
Cecil was born July 12, 1925 in Richmond, California to William and Nettie Catledge. He was a long time resident of Gridley and a graduate of Live Oak High School, Class of 1943. He was a life time member of the Church of the Brethren.
Cecil worked as a carpenter for many years. He enjoyed sharing his carpentry expertise by creating and building many projects for both his family and the Live Oak Church of the Brethren. As an avid reader, he enjoyed books that provided information on numerous interests and hobbies such as gardening, woodwork and bird watching. He also experienced much joy in reading to his grandchildren. Cecil appreciated the outdoors and loved to partake in long walks and challenging hikes. He camped for many years with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed.
Cecil was predeceased in death by his parents and one sister.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years Bonnie Lou Catledge; three sons: Steve (Eileen) Catledge, of Yuba City, California, Daryl (Susan) Catledge, of Gridley, California, Lyle (Judy) Catledge, of Chico, California; one brother, Lowell Catledge, of Nebraska; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pastor Roland Johnson will officiate the Celebration of Life service.
Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to the Heifer Project through the Live Oak Church of the Brethren, 1990 Archer Avenue, Live Oak, CA 95953
