The Gridley Softball team has a chance to do something they haven't done since the 2005-2006 season. Since 2006, the Lady Bulldogs have not made the playoffs. Even more, they have not won more than 10 games in a season since the 2006 season. Now after a three-game sweep over Winters last week, the girls have won 14 games this season and have a chance to play in the postseason. In the first game against the Warriors, the girls won by a score of 14-2. Madison Mardesich went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, while Fraine Cox also finished 3 for 4 with five RBIs. Catherine Roman hit two out of two with an RBI, while Megan Anthony and Ashtyn MacFarlane each had hits. The following game on Tuesday, Anthony had three hits and an RBI, while MacFarlane and Cox each went two for four with three RBIs in Gridley's 14-8 win over the Warriors. Dominique Nelson and Roman each had a hit. In the third game of three last week, the Lady Bulldogs took out the Warriors for the final time this season by winning 9-4. Cox was 2 for 4 at the plate with two RBIs, two runs scored and double to lead the Bulldogs. Cox went the distance at the mound, pitching all seven innings with nine strikeouts, while allowing just two earned runs on eight hits. Mardesich had two RBIs, while Sandra Dreesmann was 2 for 4 with a run. Anthony, MacFarlane and Mikaela Ponciano added RBIs for the Bulldogs who currently sit in second place in the BVL.
