A Funeral Service will be held on Friday April 19, 2013 at 10a.m, .Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Fred Roxson, 90, of Gridley, California. He entered into internal life on Monday, April 15, 2013, in Oroville, California.
He was born December 27, 1922 in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico to George and Isidra Roxson.
He was a long time resident of Gridley, having owned and operated Associated Insurance in Yuba City. He was retired Sheriff in Mendocino County where he was a legend. He also served as an interim Chief of Police in Gridley. He served in the US Army Air Force during WWII, stationed in China. He was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gridley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Jane McElroy, two sisters, Beatrice Danley, Freida Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Jeannie Roxson of Gridley, three daughters, Jenny (Paul) Bartschi of Camarillo, California, Sherry Fore of Sparks Nevada, Judy (Eddie) Mullins of Texas, one step son, Christopher Sconza of Temple Texas, four step daughters, Kimberly (Stephen Rich) Fiori of Fairfield, California, Kathy (Kevin) Lusby of Vacaville, California, Kary (Jimi) Antoniadis of Paso Robles, California, Lori (Josh) Beaver of Orland, California, three brothers, Camilio Roxson of Lake Port, California, Gene Roxson of Pittsburg , California, George Roxson of Lake Port, California, one sister, Floy Ferguson of Clovis , California, thirteen grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 18 at the Gridley Block Funeral Chapel from 4 to 6 pm., and a Rosary will follow.
Father Miguel Silva will officiate the Funeral service.
Family suggests donations be made to the Sacred Heart Food Closet.
Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley Block Funeral Chapel.
