YREKA – One of the suspected courthouse gold thieves turned himself into the Siskiyou County Jail late last night, confirmed Sheriff Jon Lopey.
David Dean Johnson, 49, of El Cerrito, Calif., is being held in the jail on $1 million bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in the Siskiyou County Superior Court.
"This is a favorable development," said Lopey.
He noted that the other suspect, Scott Wayne Baily, 51, of El Sobrante, Calif., is still being sought.
Lopey commented that the investigation of the Feb. 1, 2012 Siskiyou County Courthouse gold theft is ongoing and anyone with information is urged to call the sheriff's office at 841-2911.
