The General George Washington Chapter of the California Society Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) this past week recognized Assistant Chief Dean Price and awarded him with a Law Enforcement Medal. Chapter President Owen Stiles presented this prestigious award on behalf of the SAR. Chief of Police Gary Keeler, Officer Price and his wife Florence were present to receive this recognition.
Beginning as a reserve police officer in 1996 and filling in as a short term City Finance Director, Assistant Chief Price has exemplified the character and dedication that the SAR wishes to recognize in a public servant. From a passion for gang enforcement and quality investigations he has become a leader in the Butte County area and respected throughout the north state for gang enforcement and compassion for victims of crime. His work ethic is unequaled. Price holds a Masters Degree in Emergency Service Administration and is a graduate of the National FBI Academy. Over his career he has worked many assignments and held many positions including Field Training Officer. Evidence Technician and Butte County Officer Involved Shooting Incident Protocol member.
Assistant Chief Price was recognized by the US House of Representatives and the California State Senate for saving the life of a person having a heart attack. Arriving on the scene in the incident he was told that the person had a “do not resuscitate” order. Choosing to ignore this, he provided life saving protocol. It turned out that the person had no such order and a life was saved.
The General George Washington is proud to honor Assistant Chief Price’s dedication to duty, work ethic, personal ethic and patriotism and present the Law Enforcement Medal.
