  • She may reside in Orono, Minnesota with her family now, but Meredith Carlin First is keeping her memories of growing up in Gridley fresh, not only for her but for others in "Gridley Girls: A True-Life Novel," the book that has captured the hearts of many in a very short time.
First sold 1,200 ebook copies of "Gridley Girls" in just 36 hours, which is very good considering a representative from Amazon told First that only 10% of debut books ever sell more than 1,000 copies in the lifetime of the book. This includes print and ebooks and big-name authors.
It is a determination, not a dream of First, to appear on the Ellen Show and have the audience filled with Gridleyans.
First is asking all Gridleyans to please send letters to the Ellen Show requesting to have Author Meredith First on her show by visiting http://www.ellentv.com/be-on-the-show/10/. Letters may also be mailed to: The Ellen DeGeneres Show, PO Box 7788, Burbank, CA, 91522, Attn: Gridley Girls.
Excerpts from one great letter sent by a local fan, include: "It is a wonderful true-life novel based on the author's coming of age in the agricultural town of Gridley, California.
