  • A Benefit Spaghetti Fundraiser is being held Saturday at the Moose Lodge to help with the medical bills of four-year-old Andrew Remund who has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Cancer Stage IV.
The Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge are sponsoring the dinner that begins at 5 p.m., at the Moose Lodge. Tickets are just $10 each and $30 per family of four. To-go dinners will also be available. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Valley Truck and Tractor, Les Schwab Tire, Ace Hardware, Studio J, Salon 7/The Makeup Room, Napa Auto Parts, Children's Hope Foster Family Agency and The Wishing Corner.
Andrew is the son of Sarah and Brian Remund and the grandson of Frank and Patty McCarthey of Live Oak.
Neuroblastoma Cancer is a disease in which malignant cells form in the nerve tissues of the adrenal gland, neck, chest or spinal cord.
Since last September, Andrew has undergone many blood transfusions as well as blood platelets. He has gone to the Bay Area to have his stem cells harvested to be used in his treatment later.
Andrew recently underwent surgery to remove shrunken tumor and when he heals from that will finish round six of chemotherapy. He will go to UC San Francisco for bone marrow transplant using his own stem cells.
The night of the dinner, there will be a raffle with many wonderful donated items from the community plus a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drive a Nascar vehicle. Two ride-along tickets will be featured in the raffle. A Dessert Auction will be held with many wonderful and tasty desserts to be auctioned off.
Raider fans will want to be present for the chance to win two Raiders tickets to a home game and another great prize will be a silver engraved bracelet. Call Jim McCarthey to donate items for the raffle at 624-3007.
Not only will it be a terrific dinner, there will be many chances to win wonderful prizes, scrumptious desserts and help a very deserving little guy.
A fund is established at US Bank and checks should be made out to the "Fund for Andrew Remund," for those who cannot attend the fundraiser but still want to help. Hopefully, the Moose Lodge will be filled to capacity once again, with many more people donating to the fund at US Bank to make life easier for the Remund family.
