A sluggish first half and foul trouble led to another defeat for the Lady Bulldogs on Gridley’s Senior Night. Coach Becca McCray started five seniors on Friday—four of which were in foul trouble in the first half.
McCray said her defense wasn’t quite aggressive enough to stop the Warriors on Senior Night. The Lady Bulldogs picked up their intensity after the break, but it was too little too late. McCray noted that the end of game result would have been much different if the girls played the first half like they did in the second.
The Lady Bulldogs allowed Winters’ Bailey Overman to score 31 points—more than half of the Warriors’ total points.
Ashtyn MacFarlane picked up a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Elizabeth Osbourn also had 13 points along with four rebounds, two steals and one blocked shot. Alexa Garcia finished with nine points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
Earlier in the week, it was again foul trouble and a slow first half resulted in a loss for the Lady Bulldogs. Catherine Roman led Gridley (8-15, 3-3) with 11 points. Madison Mardesich scored seven and Alexa Garcia and Vanessa Ramirez each scored six.
