For the second time in twenty days, friends of Deanna Johnson came to Biggs to ask that anyone who has information into the murder of Deanna Johnson or Shirley Pratt, please contact the Butte County Sheriff's Department at 538-7415. A $50,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for Johnson's murder. Fourteen-year-old Deanna Johnson was murdered in Vacaville in 1982 but friends who are looking for justice again visited the town of Biggs on Saturday.
Armed with posters bearing pictures of Deanna Johnson and Shirley Ann Pratt, volunteers came to Biggs January 6 and again January 26 to raise awareness and implore people to please help by speaking with law enforcement.
Pratt was found murdered in East Biggs on Vance Avenue October 12, 2001 and authorities have let both families know that they think the same person is responsible for both women's murders, 19 years apart.
The person of interest lives in Biggs and will appear in Butte County Superior Court February 15, 2013 for violation of a restraining order. In front of numerous witnesses including local media, the person of interest drove by the volunteers yelling at the organizer. He was arrested by Gridley-Biggs Police and ordered to appear in court.
Deanna's best friend won't be intimidated and it is obvious she will not give up until the person responsible for ending her friend's life goes behind bars.
"My killer is roaming your neighborhood freely," one of the posters stated. For the rest of this story, please pick up a 1/30/13 edition of The Gridley Herald.
