  • On Thursday, the Sycamore boys 7th grade basketball team opened its season hosting the Tierra Buena Eagles from Yuba City.  The pups entered this season with a core group of players who finished last season undefeated.  And they began this season right where they left off.  “This group of boys has a lot of talent,” stated coach Mike Erickson.  “We have 4 players that can run the point and we have strong players all over the floor.”
The pups opened the scoring in the first quarter with layups by guards Jose Ramirez and Randy Miller.  Trevor Facey would come off the bench and add another layup in the first quarter  as the pups led 6 to 5.  “We started off pretty slow and nervous.  It took a while to get the motors running.”  But, the pups would open a huge 17-point second quarter led by guards Brian Wilkerson and Angel Gonzalez and by the inside play of Tyler Little and Brandon Lara who combined for 7 points in the quarter and many offensive rebounds.  The pups never looked back, cruising to a 39-18 win.
