Larry Rowe passed away on Christmas afternoon, December 25, 2012 at Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital just two weeks shy of his 50th birthday. He was born on January 10, 1963, in Yreka, California to David and Jeanne Rowe. He was the only son and the youngest of three children. Larry grew up in Northern California and spent most of his time here in Gridley living with his mother. Larry was diagnosed with schizophrenia as a young adult and suffered with his condition throughout his life. Larry was known in this town for his amazing talent to fix anything mechanical. Larry never had any formal training, but had far surpassing intelligence and could fix the unfixable.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother Jeanne Rowe, only two years ago
He is survived by his father, David Rowe, of Montague, California; his sisters Angela Habib, of Yuba City and Sandra Howison, of Sammamish, Washington.; four nieces: Arin Campos, Kindra Eversdyk, Brooke Gamble and Rachel Visser and four nephews: Cameron and Kyle Habib, Daniel Visser and Ian Howison.
Larry’s family would like to formally thank the Gridley Police Department for their continued support during the last few years of Larry’s life. We know Larry wasn’t the model citizen, but your kindness and understanding gave us the strength to help Larry with his daily struggles. Thank you.
Larry will be missed by his family and friends, but we are all comforted by knowing he is reunited with his mother, the BEST Christmas present he could ever receive.
Memorial services are going to be a private family gathering.
