The Butte County Sheriff's Team of Active Retired Seniors, otherwise known as S.T.A.R.S., are looking for new volunteer members. This area is lacking in volunteers due to retirements and the Sheriff's Department would like to see this division grow back to what it used to be. S.T.A.R.S. are a big part of the Sheriff's Department offering help with vacation checks, teddy bear clinics, parades and helping with office work
"We would like to get people involved from this community," Deputy Jason Winkel stated. Winkel recently spoke at the Gridley Rotary Club, introducing himself as the Deputy assigned to this area.
Living in Gridley with his family, Winkel is excited to be assigned to the Gridley, Biggs and Honcut areas.
This is an excellent way for seniors to volunteer and give back to their community.
If interested, call Deputy Winkel at 538-7321 or email email@example.com.
Applications are available at The Gridley Herald, 650 Kentucky Street, Gridley.
