The Biggs School Board of Trustees met Tuesday, December 13, 2012 to hold an election of officers following the November 6, 2012 election. New to the board is Robin Clark and returning for another four year term is Terry Lattemore who was named President of the board on a unanimous vote.
Before the meeting began, however, the group was visited by kindergarten and first graders who sang Christmas carols beautifully much to the delight of all in attendance. The children and their teachers filled the room and tears were shed by a few adults as the children sang and performed in sign language to "Let There Be Peace On Earth," which was an excellent way to start the day.
Past Vice President Kari Wheeler thanked Kathryn Sheppard for doing a marvelous job as President the past two years. Wheeler accepted the nomination for Vice President. Dennis Slusser was appointed Clerk after it was verified that he wished to continue as he was not present for the election of officers.
The board agreed to continue to hold their board meetings the first Wednesday of each month with a second meeting on the third Wednesday each month when necessary.
Wheeler agreed to represent the school district at City Council meetings and Lattemore agreed to sit on the budget committee.
Slusser will serve as the representative on the Biggs-Richvale Education Foundation and Lattemore on BUTA and Sheppard on CSEA. Wheeler and Clark will serve as alternates.
District Superintendent Doug Kaelin will continue as Secretary to the board.
