Along with the consolation championship they brought home this weekend, the Bulldogs continued to dominate on the court Tuesday against the visiting Tigers from Oroville.
The Tigers were given the opportunity of redemption after Gridley stopped them 58-55 at the Durham Tournament, but the results weren’t much different. This time the Bulldogs increased the scoring gap with a 43-34 victory over the Tigers.
Tyler Abrego, again, led the Bulldogs in scoring with 16 points. Mat Scott followed behind with 7, while Juan Magana and Sam Cota added 6 each. Shobi Khan finished with 5, and Leo Espinoza had 3 points.
Abrego, a 6-foot 5-inch senior forward, has averaged 19.8 points this season for the Bulldogs (4-1). Abrego transferred from Live Oak High School in the middle of last school year, but he suffered a knee injury and was unable to compete last season.
The Bulldogs tipped off the Gridley Invitational Basketball Tournament last night against the Cougars from Newark Memorial (1-0).
